Al Ain Oasis

The Al Ain Oasis is one of the seven oases in Al Ain and is located in the heart of the city. It is just a short walk from where we are living. It is a large wonderful place to wander through – under a canopy of date palms as far as the eye can see, through labyrinth paths and falaj systems, an ancient irrigation system used dating back thousands of years, bringing water that comes from nearby mountains. The oasis is also infamous for staying cooler in the hot weather and we found this to be true.

When we visited we were seemingly alone in this very tranquil place. It was quite beautiful when the call to prayer from nearby mosques filled the oasis. Eleanor enjoyed running around outside, checking out the dates that had dropped from the trees, and cooling in the water.
