Al Ain National Museum and Sultan Fort

Last week was the "click" week here. Everything came together and I was overjoyed to be here. The once unfamiliar was now familiar and my hands knew where to find switches and things in the house without thinking. There is routine and pattern and at the same time adventures awaiting outside our doorstep. Perfect.

And we are seriously thinking of staying here longer than this first initial planned year. How could we not....let's see, more money for our family and without me working plus having more time to spend with the kiddo and as a family. Tough decision. While it does suck being far away from family, it's amazing how much email does the trick and free calling on Yahoo Messenger.

These last couple days have been a little "off" though....I guess that's to be expected. I'm sure we'll be back to our "extended vacation" vibe soon, but for now, just sitting tight.

Yesterday we went to the Al Ain National Museum and the adjacent Sultan Fort. The museum had beautiful collections of unearthed pottery and artifacts from the first millenium BC. I also had to pause at the manusripts. It's amazing how serene I feel at these old forts. I love the austerity of them.
