After the Ecstacy, the Laundry

Not sure if I am a fan of our little front load washing machine, but admittedly, Eleanor and I like to watch it whip and spin around. Eleanor's new found trick is her love of hiding things in there. The other morning I put some laundry in and very soon heard the weirdest thump thump thumping. I ran to the washing machine and inside found her sippy cup full of milk, three "binkas" (pacifiers), and a couple wooden animals. How I didn't notice them in there with throwing in the laundry is besides me. There are definitely worst things to surprise me with that's for sure!

Laundry machines makes me think of two books:

Mo Willems' Knuffle Bunny - a favorite at our house!

After the Ecstacy, the Laundry by Jack Kornfield - a book about meditation, the divine and daily life. I love this title - so true. Always these domesticalities await.

In thinking about how much I love this last title (the title especially, although the book is good too), I was thinking about what are the most influential books I have read. What are your five? Comment! Or post on your blog and let me know. I'd love to hear them. And for us lovers of children's books, I think we should get two lists - one for adult and one for childrens. I'll post mine soon too.

Too funny! My mom loves her front loader and I like to watch it too! She saves water with hers because it senses how much laundry is in the drum, and adjusts the water accordingly. It even has a handwash cycle! I think it spins once every 10 seconds. It's really cool.
