This year I am looking to make the holidays extra cheery with being far from home. It's also key to keep things inexpensive. Here are some great handmade christmas ornament ideas!

I like that these are large and can be huge over a table.
Simple fun advent calendar idea! but in festive holiday colors (scroll down in link)
And I like this one too--little envelopes draped on the mantel (which we don't have unfortunately) or other space and filled with fun family activities!
Ornaments you can eat? Um, yes, please. I like the stamped cookies on frame 12.
Let me know if you have any other great ideas!

Those paper ornaments would be so easy to make! You could also make German Paper Stars. I've made them before and they're really cool.
Why not just drape those envelopes along the wall? Maybe make a "fire" out of paper, too, for underneath . . . and it will give you a place to hang your stockings, too.
Last Christmas I made a bunch of paper cranes for my tiny tree. They were perfect! I just tore out colorful pages from J. Crew catalogs and folded them up. They sit so nicely on the branches.
Here are some instructions.
These are both great ideas! And I was thinking about something birdy since I love them so much. And you can never go wrong with stars. Thanks! :)
ooohhh, I want to make those snowflakes and the big paper ones right away! thanks for the share!
Pipe cleaner snow flakes are super easy and very charming too... I made some years and years ago and they still come out every Christmas! Oh, and now you reminded me that L and I need to make some paper chains... maybe tomorrow. "Could be fun!" as he would say. ;-)
Some of my favorite Christmas memories are from when I lived in England as a little girl and we made paper ornaments and strands of popcorn and paper chains for our Christmas tree. Being so far away from home at the holidays, it was fun to work together as a family to make the house beautiful!
