Seems like forever

It's been a little over three weeks since we've been home and while it seems like we've barely been in our house, it also seems like forever since we've been in Al Ain. Last night I was finally uploading photos from our camera and it was strange to see our last few photos from the UAE on there....

It's interesting you don't know what you will miss about a place before you leave and I still don't know what all those things are yet. Dates and incredible Indian food are the first things that come to mind though. And friends! While we have newly left, many friends are making their way back to Al Ain after their summer holiday away. Hoping the transition is a good one for all of you!

Al Ain was good to us and as we were reminded from Eleanor, who asked several times to go back "home" the first couple weeks back in the US--it was our home for a year. Michael says that now we are getting settled into our house that it feels like we never left. I don't know about all that, but it's good to be home and will be interesting to see what many things we will be missing from the UAE.

Not only is it nice to be back in our house, but these ladies above are happy to have us back and many other family and friends we are happy to see again. That's my mom and "gg" (Eleanor's great-grandma). This was our first full day back and it was good to have the family love right away even if I was holding on by a string after all that flying and being sick!

I think this is my last post here on this blog. I started posting on my new one recently, so come and visit! xx

I've enjoyed your posts from Al Ain over the past year. You arrived just before I did and it's been good to have someone else go through the same progression where things that once seemed unspeakably bizarre become ordinary.
Hope the next part of your journey is as worthwhile as this one.
