But they are PRINCESSES! That means they've have nannies to take care of the little darlings, and they'd be getting mani-pedi's and having tea and stuff. Right?

Kids know the difference between fantasy and reality. IMHO, fantasy is an important part in a person's development. I have friends who refused to ever do the Santa thing because they didn't want their children to think they ever told them lies . . . but seriously? No Santa?

I know what you mean about gender roles, but I honestly think that all of those stories, including the Disney-fied versions, are part of our culture. Share them with glee, right alongside stories of talking donkeys and children who get eaten by witches! Then share stories about reality, loving families where both parents are alive and still together (have you noticed who Disney kids never have both parents?), and stories about how the government sometimes takes all your funding away.

But for now - sheez - let her have her princess fantasies and fairy wings!
