I saw this photo over on blue milk. The Fallen Princess series is an interesting one but this is the image that really hit me. As a feminist there is alot of gender hoo-ha that annoys me with the whole Disney princess stuff especially as I see Eleanor become more and more interested. At the same time there is a pure magic and nostalgia that I feel when I watch Sleeping Beauty or Snow White!
Photographer Dina Goldstein decided to re-imagine their outcomes. "I began to imagine Disney's perfect princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me," she says, "such as illness, addiction and self-image issues." Genius and heartbreaking.
What does happen to those princesses after they marry their prince?
Motherhood is so complex--amazing and beautiful, but major complex.
